A journal called the, “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences” has revealed that taking vitamin B on a routine basis can help protect the human body against the dangers of surrounding air pollution. Adequate levels of vitamin B within our immune systems can help protect against substantial amounts of the epigenomes located in common air pollutants. Since the World Health Organization has deemed air pollutants as a major health problem, taking consistent doses of vitamin B could truly help aid our society in becoming less vulnerable to related ailments.
- There were 10 participants used for the study and they were given folic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 in a vitamin supplement.
- According to the researchers, daily intake of Vitamin B supplements could help mitigate against the effects of particulate matter such as PM2.5 in the air.
- The study needs to be tested thoroughly though and the researchers plan to do so in Beijing, or India, or Mexico where people are chronically exposed to polluted air.
