A study was done involving nonsmokers and current smokers, and showed that current smokers decreased their risk of developing COPD by 8% by including more fruits and vegetables into their daily diet. The foods that make the difference are said to be leafy greens, as well as berries and fruits and vegetables high in acidity, like apples and tomatoes.
