Highlighting the case of a young man who was recently diagnosed as diabetic, the article discusses situations in which cultural norms and behaviors can support or undermine a person&#8217;s health once they leave the care of medical supervision. An article by two researchers on this topic is also frequently referenced and examples are provided based on the example case of the young diabetic.
