With statistics provided by the CDC, researchers from NYU examined the incidence of psychological distress prevalent in Americans. They found that 3.4 percent of Americans, more women than men, and more minorities were experiencing serious psychological distress. They could not find specific reasons but there are focusing that the recession that began in 2007 could be a major factor. The recession likely pushed those suffering from mental problems past a point of where they can recover. The study proves a need for more mental health professionals in the US to tackle this growing problem.<\/p>\n
