Denmark researchers are looking into Lithium levels in tap water and how the roles they may affect dementia. It is likely the first study of this type and is showing interesting results. Though these results have not been confirmed they do seem to be showing that when the maximum allotted amount of Lithium in tap water is used it decreases the percentage of dementia. While an average amount of Lithium in tap water seems to increase the percentage of dementia. Lithium is a treatment option for bipolar disorder and in studies have shown a possible decrease in alzheimer’s. With there currently being no way to stop dementia this is definitely something to further look into.
