Study: Dentin shows vitamin D deficiency of earlier civilizations

A newly published study shows evidence of vitamin D deficiency in the teeth of ancient humans. Like rings in a tree, layers of the tooth enamel show a lack of vitamin D intake in people living in Canada and France in the 1700s and 1800s. Teeth are a more reliable indicator since they do not decompose as readily as bone.
