A major reservoir supplying drinking water in China contained heavy metal pollutants at levels far above safe standards for a period of at least three years, according to a study by Chinese scientists. Levels of lead in the reservoir were 700 times the maximum National Limit. Excessive lead in drinking water can lead to a host of health problems, and can be especially dangerous to infants and children.
