A property of the spice tumeric has been found to improve the effectiveness of
the tuberculosis treatment series. A nano particle of the the primary constituent of tumeric, curcumin, has been used successfully in a study of mice. Not only did it shorten the treatment time 50%, it also reduced the incidence of re-infection. Further study and methodology will need to be developed for potential use in human subjects. Treatment of TB is especially important in India, where this study originates, where 28 million persons are TB patients.
