In an era when it’s impossible to truly escape the work inbox, it’s a good idea to have a plan when you go to the gym. Ideally, you should be able to get a balanced and productive full body workout in about an hour. However, if you don’t plan ahead and factor for things like a rush-hour crowd taking filling up all of the lifting equipment, you may start to find your workouts unfulfilling. Unless there’s a specific reason you need to be on call, your phone should be on silent mode when you’re at the gym. It’s also important to have a good workout playlist. Numerous studies shown that a good upbeat soundtrack can help you work out harder for longer, so leave the power ballads for a more sedate activity and fill your workout playlist with the most hard-charging music you can find.
