According to a study out of the University of Tasmania, taking periodic breaks from dieting may help you lose weight. The researchers discovered that study participants who took breaks from their diets lost more weight than those who did not. Furthermore, the intermittent dieters kept off more weight long-term than the strict dieters. According to researcher Professor Byrne, a two-week break from dieting seems to be just the right duration to achieve success. In spite of the study’s results, dietitian Kathryn Hawkins feels the best way to maintain a healthy weight is to enjoy nutritious food and learn to tune in to your body’s hunger and fullness cues.
