Kidney disease may have a link to air pollution says The Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. To test this they kept tabs on 2,482,737 veterans for a span of about eight years and six months. With help from data on air pollution such as NASA’S and the Environmental Protection Agency’s studies they found that increases in PM 2.5 are a direct result of decreases in G.F.R. shows bad kidney function.PM 2.5 particles are not large and can easily enter the blood stream and end up at the kidneys who are prone to damage. Scientist believe that air pollution will increase kidney disease. Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly who is a professor of medicine at Washington University stated that diabetes and hypertension are the major causes of kidney disease.
