Cherries are nutrient-dense, low-calorie fruits that provide important nutrients necessary for your best health

February 7, 2019 By Darrell Miller

Cherries are not only yummy, but they are good for you as well. They contain fiber, natural sugars and many vitamins the body needs for good circulation and general overall health. They have been used in traditional eastern medicine for many year to fight inflammation in the body, particularly that which is associated to the painful condition gout. Gout is when there is too much uric acid in the system and it settles in a joint, usually the big toe or knee, but can affect any. Compounds in cherries help to reduce uric acid in the body.

Key Takeaways:

  • Traditional folk medicine has made use of cherries to rid the body of inflammation, such as occurs with arthritis and gout.
  • Cherries’ long purported efficacy in reducing inflammation and pain is due largely to the fruit’s cyanidine content.
  • Beta-amyloid plaques, a known precursor of Alzheimer’s disease, are mitigated by the phenolic compounds found in cherries.

“Each cherry is packed with nutrients that contribute to the many health benefits that it has.”
