While there’s plenty of talk about eliminating certain foods from your diet, there doesn’t seem to be nearly as much discussion on which foods should stay. After all, nutrition is based off what you DO eat. Of course, it’s important to cut out processed sugars and trans fats; however, it’s equally as important to fill up on good nutrients – such as protein, whole grains, and cholesterol (the healthy kind!). So when reviewing your dietary habits, make sure you are getting enough lean meats, tomatoe sauces, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli!), high fiber cereals, pistachios, berries, and bananas. Calories are an important factor to dieting, but you can’t survive if your body is craving essential nutrients!
