Tips for Keeping Your Moods Stable During the Winter

September 30, 2015 By Corey B

For many people, the end of summer isn’t just the time when the leaves start to change, it marks the beginning of the time of year when they start to feel a little down. But, if you find that the shorter days and colder temperatures make you feel a little down, a recent Bustle article has a few suggestions on how you can improve your mental well-being in autumn. Some of the suggestions are fairly simple, like play some upbeat music that you like when you start to feel sad. Others are a good bit more elaborate, such as spending an extended period of time under a sun lamp.

However, most of the article suggestions split the difference. One useful way to combat the blues is to get regular aerobic exercise, so you should think about joining a gym to improve your mental and physical health. Another fairly the prescient fighting tip is to slightly increase your daily vitamin intake. By drinking an extra glass of milk a day, you can fortify yourself with vitamin D, which we produce less of when not exposed to sunlight. You can also add a vitamin B supplement to your daily dietary intake to lift your spirits, as studies have shown that there is a link between B12 deficiency and depression. Check out this post to find out other ways to ward off wintertime sadness.
