Myth Busting Low-Carb Diets

In recent years, low carbohydrate diets have become increasingly popular. Conversely, low-carb diets have also been criticized for prompting people to deprive themselves of certain essential nutrients that are commonly provided by carbohydrate heavy foods. This Authority Nutrition post takes an in-depth look at eight different kinds of low-carb diets and how they affect the human body. As an example, the article points out that a diet completely free of carbohydrates would likely lead to the development of a vitamin C deficiency.

The article also looks at the pros and cons of adopting a Paleo diet, which calls for excluding all foods not available in the Paleolithic era from your daily intake. One positive for that particular diet is that it would lead you to removing all processed meats, refined grains and sugars from your diet. A number of studies have also shown that taking on a Paleo diet is effective at inducing weight loss, lowering blood sugar and balancing blood pressure. However, because of the increased consumption of meat and nuts recommended by the diet, adherents will need to moderate their fat intake. Also, Paleo dieters can’t consume any dairy, so a calcium supplement is probably a good idea. Click the link below to get more information about various low-carb diets.
