Can too much protein put you in a ‘food coma?’

Tens of millions of Americans who drop off into a drowsy stupor after an indulgent Thanksgiving meal. What causes it? The answer might surprise you. Researchers at the Scripps Research Institute have done a study of fruit flies that show certain foods cause it to sleep more after large meals. No, it’s not sugar. It’s protein and salt that induces sleep after a huge meal.
