February 10, 2017 By Corey B

CRP (C-reactive protein) is an acute phase protein which associates with inflammatory diseases and it is a convenient indicator of inflammation. A CRP test evaluates the amount of the particular protein known as C-reactive protein in the blood. The C-reactive protein is able to generally measure the inflammation levels in the body. A CRP test will be done to detect diseases and infections that result to inflammation such as rheumatoid arthritis, lymph nodes cancer, diseases of the body’s immune system, viral infections, and meningitis.

How Curcumin Helps Reduce CRP levels

Research shows that Curcumin, a substance in turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and is also an antioxidant. Curcumin is known to reduce three blood markers of inflammation, which include CRP, it lowers blood sugar levels and A1C. Curcumin also contains anti-cancer properties. It is a neuroprotective agent that will protect you from a number of neurological disorders. Curcumin inhibits the activity and synthesis of 5-lipooxygenase (5-LOX) and cyclooxygenase-2(COX2) as well as the enzymes that are associated with inflammation.

Curcumin contained in turmeric is able to control genetic activity, by destroying the cancer cells. It promotes healthy cell functioning. It also helps prevent the increase in supply of blood that is necessary for the growth of cancer cells. Curcumin is known for protection against damage of the liver, inhibition of HIV replication, it enhances healing of a wound, and it suppresses tumor formation, suppression of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis as well as protecting against cataracts. It is also important to note that it keeps your cholesterol levels in check, it will inhibit aggregation of platelets and also prevent you from low-density lipoprotein oxidation.
