Taking a Holistic Approach to Stress Management

As stress is a multifaceted problem, it’s only logical that it should be dealt with using a multifaceted approach. There is no one technique that can be guaranteed to lower a person’s stress level, but by utilizing a range of different methodologies, you can greatly increase your chances of success. For example, many people find that being able to talk to someone about their various anxieties on a regular basis is a great way to relieve stress. However, others find that regular aerobic exercise is the stress fighting technique that works best for them.

In addition to the methods described above, several studies of found that maintaining a nutritious diet is very helpful in fighting stress. The reason being, when you eat unhealthy foods such as candy or fried chicken, it causes an imbalance in your blood pressure and blood sugar. As having dangerously high blood pressure and blood sugar can greatly increase your risk factor for developing debilitating health problems such as blindness and cancer, it behooves all of us to limit our consumption of junk foods. However, eating right alone will not optimize your stress level. In order to get the best possible health outcome, it’s best to go with a holistic approach that includes regular exercise and maintaining close personal relationships.
