Brain Inflammation Tied to Depression, Suicidal Thoughts

A new study out of England has discovered a link between brain inflammation in the microglial area and major depressive disorder. This with this inflammation are also at risk for increased suicidal thoughts and actions. This study us unique in that brains of living patients were evaluated using a PET scan, previously only brains of those who died were dissected for examination. The hopes of this research is that it will lead to future research and treatment.
