Changing the Way You Think Is the Key to Weight Loss

If you’re struggling to lose significant amounts of weight, diet and exercise are in cut it. You have to make genuine commitment to changing your way of life and that includes making an honest assessment of how you became overweight in the first place. A number of studies have found that will most common causes for obesity in America is emotional eating. Oftentimes, adults will turn to junk food after a troubling event in an attempt to restore their emotional stability. Unfortunately, many comfort foods such as chocolate chip cookies, actually have the opposite effect on our physiology.

For example, the carbohydrates and sugar in chocolate chip cookies have the effect of destabilizing your blood sugar. That will cause you to experience mood swings and an anxiety inducing sugar crash. Nutritious foods like blueberries and spinach have antioxidant properties that will balance your blood sugar and fight aid your system in fight off stress hormones. Unless you make the effort to change the way you think about food, there’s a strong possibility that a particularly stress week will cause you to abandon a healthy diet. It’s only with a realistic view toward food that you can truly begin the process of making lasting improvements to your mental and physical health.
