How to Stay Calm During The Holidays

December 15, 2016 By Corey B

The festive season is a what we all look forward to, and nothing compares to it. But aside from the joy, the period comes with its fair share of worries that can lead to a lot of anxiety and stress, devastating to the mind, body, and spirit.

Helpful tips on how to avoid Holiday Stress and calm your nerves

Long queues and congestion– Everyone will be out at the same time, wanting to do the same things as you. The waiting crowds will test your patience. Plan in advance for everything you might need during the holiday by, for instance, shopping early. But if the queue is inevitable, take it in stride and strike up a conversation with your neighbor.

Traveling and its challenges – While it may be fun to visit places that you do not frequent, with it comes the nightmare of logistical planning, anticipating complications and the inevitable awkward meetings with relatives and friends. But here’s the solution. Look on the bright side that the challenges form part of a memorable traveling experience. If you cannot get along with your visitors or hosts, relax, show them respect and tolerance. There’s a good chance they will reciprocate.

Tons and tons of calories – Everywhere you will be bombarded with the most tempting culinary delights. For those who have worked hard to be in shape, the holidays can be extremely stressful. The remedy? Indulge with moderation. And if you cannot compromise, then know the calories in the foods you are likely to encounter and have alternatives. For instance, white meat is better than red meat, and so on.

Accumulating debt – Everything about the holiday season advertising is designed to make you fish out your credit card and spend, spend, spend. Quite often, this leads to frustration and depression. Have a financial plan, however simple. Make room for unforeseen expenditure and, most importantly, stick to your plan.

Persistent Stress can be a difficult nut to crack, and you may still find yourself in need of help. Don’t panic; the next step is to incorporate a nutritional supplement such as magnesium. It occurs naturally in foods such as avocado, soy milk, cashew, whole grain bread, almond, and certain brands of mineral water.

Alternatively, talk to a medical practitioner on the best magnesium supplement for you. For instance magnesium glycinate is among the magnesium compounds that calm the nerves. Magnesium also helps in reducing stress-related symptoms such as insomnia, high blood pressure, fatigue, and restlessness.

The above tips will ensure that you will get the most of your well-earned holiday. Cheers.
