The Advantages of Pantothenic Acid for the Hair

May 16, 2013 By Darrell Miller

Pantothenic acid for hair

People may have heard about the function and use of Pantothenic acid for hair, but most of them don’t really understand what it is, where it comes from, and the main benefits they can enjoy from such acid. Also known as the vitamin B5, this particular vitamin is included within the water soluble element that is important for the body. Not only it is a good and natural antioxidant, it also helps the decomposition process for the protein, fat, and carbs.

Central Nervous System Health

This vitamin is also used in making some enzymes as well as helping the central nervous system to send signals from and to the brain. Since this particular acid is very important, it is crucial to avoid the lack of Pantothenic acid within the body.

Three forms Of Vitamin B5

The Pantothenic acid is mostly found within 3 different forms of vitamin B5, Panthenol, and Calcium Pantothenate. The Panthenol is the one that is considered as the Pantothenic acid for hair because of its natural moisturizing ability. That’s why such substance is often found in cosmetic products, such as for the skin and the hair. Since the skin can adjust itself to the substance quickly and the Panthenol can be absorbed nicely, it is often included within products for skin disorders and sunburns. The substance can reduce the effects of inflammation and itchiness; that’s why it is often found in hair treatment products for damaged or sensitive skin.

Calcium Pantothenate is able to help preventing hair loss, as well as other severe ailments and diseases, like cardiovascular issues, headaches, cholesterol, and arthritis.

Since the Pantothenic acid for hair is considered very healthy and natural for the hair, people can use it to treat hair problems. When they suffer from hair loss or dandruff, finding products with the substance can really help alleviate the issue. Another good thing about this substance is that it can be used by anyone, including infants and children.

Dosage:

However, people need to consider the dosage very carefully as too much intake of the Pantotenic acid can cause side effects. There is a recommended intake for the daily consumption:
– Infants between 0 to 6 months need 1.7 mg
– Infants between 7 to 12 months need 3.8 mg
– Children between 1 to 3 years need 5 mg
– Children between 4 to 8 years need 15 mg
– Children between 9 to 12 years need 30 mg
-Children above 13 and adults need 500 mg
– Pregnant women need 250 – 500 mg
– Breastfeeding moms need 600 mg.

Natural Food Sources

People who want to make their hair stay healthy and beautiful can also get the natural sources of the substance from consuming peanuts, corn, eggs, cheese, and wheat germs. They can also consume avocado, broccoli, sunflower seeds, milk, tomatoes, and sweet potatoes. These foods can be found and purchased easily for healthy daily consumption.

Again, pay attention to the side effects from consuming too much of this Pantothenic acid. People can suffer from drowsiness, lack of energy, depression, fluid retention, diarrhea, nausea, and even memory loss.

Everybody should analyze their diets to ensure they are consuming enough pantothenic acid on a daily basis.
