Although best known as a cure for insomnia, chamomile flowers have many other benefits. They are rich in antioxidant flavonoids and in other beneficial compounds, such as chamazulene. Chamomile is an excellent remedy for gastric distress of any kind, and can soothe excessive gas, acid reflux and indigestion. It can also help ward off anxiety and depression, and may even help prevent cancer. It also is very good for reducing blood sugar and protecting the pancreases from oxidative stress.

Key Takeaways:

  • Chamomile flowers are rich in chamazulene, which helps fight pain and inflammation, as well as antioxidant flavonoids.
  • Chamomile is great for soothing the digestive tract and fighting issues like acid reflux and excessive gas.
  • Chamomile may also be a great natural remedy for depression and anxiety, and may even have anti-cancer properties.

“People who suffer from insomnia or anyone else who has trouble falling asleep may have heard of chamomile tea. Although it’s most famous for enhancing sleep quality, chamomile tea has many other promising health benefits.”
