Connecting brain health to gut health: The gut-brain axis

Many people don’t think about it but brain health and gut health have a very direct relationship. This is becoming more and more undisputed within the scientific community as more research continues to be done. This is partially because a persons gut microbiome plays a role in regulating serotonin production in the blood and intestines. Serotonin is a brain neurotransmitter and can effect our moods. Research is also showing that we can take probiotic and prebiotic supplements and foods to help ease symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression.
