Zinc Review and How It Can Promote Tissue and Healing Process

January 2, 2017 By Corey B

Zinc is one of the three minerals essential for normal body function. Its primary role is to control and regulate metabolic processes and enzyme activity. Zinc supports cell division while having a role in the synthesis of testosterone and insulin and increase immunity to infection, support muscle growth and has beneficial effects on the skin. This proves that is an essential mineral in male reproductive development, influencing the function of the prostate and achieving positive results in treating infertility and impotence.

What is the importance of consuming zinc?

You will find traces of the zinc mineral in various food items such as mushrooms, soybeans, legumes, fish, sunflower seeds, egg yolks, soy lecithin and also in whole grains. Zinc is also present in many herbs such as dandelion, eyebright, cayenne, chamomile, mullein, nettle, milk thistle, alfalfa, and the burdock root. Zinc forms a part of insulin and can be found in the tissues.

There are many useful properties of zinc such as; providing the person with energy, prohibiting blindness, aiding the process of digestion by being a part of enzymes, and supporting the reaction of more than 30 proteins. Also, Zinc also assists in strengthening the immunity, regulation of Vitamin E in the blood, helping the body absorb Vitamin A and B, speeding up the process of healing, regulating insulin, and it also fights bacteria. Zinc is also present in estrogen, testosterone and growth hormone.

However, it should be noted that too much zinc can lead to problems absorbing other nutrients, such as copper. The result may be a weak immune system, anemia or a reduction of lipoprotein density besides this interferes with the absorption of other key elements such as copper, calcium, and iron. This can cause an imbalance in the body’s biochemistry interfering with the many biochemical pathways in the body.

While purchasing any product that contains zinc such as oyster extract powder, it is very paramount so as to understand the content that you are about to consume.
