Should You Relieve Inflammation With OTC Pain Relieving Drugs?

April 25, 2016 By Darrell Miller

prescription drugsInflammation is triggered by the release of hormone-like compounds called prostaglandins and these compounds are sustained in the body by COX-2 enzyme.  If we could control the COX-2 enzyme, we can control pain and could possibly even control cancer.  Did you know that cancer  cells are surrounded by a abnormally heavy concentration of COX-2 enzyme.

Drug company’s found out that aspirin can inhibit COX-2 and that aspirin users were less likely to get cancer.  The problem is that aspirin also inhibits COX-1 which is a protective prostaglandin for the lining of the digestive tract and blood vessels.  In other words, with out COX-1, you get ulcers and leaking of the blood vessels.  Aspirin is fine for short term use but extended use has serious side effects.  One report has estimated that over 40,000 people die annually from overuse of drugs in the aspirin family.

Vioxx, Bextra, and Celebrex are all drugs the FDA has allowed onto the market that work great inhibiting COX-2, but not with out side effects.  Later scientists found out that these anti-inflammatory drugs caused blood clots which cause heart attacks and strokes.  These drugs were so risky that the FDA took vioxx and Bextra off the market and celebrex now has a black box warning of use which is the strongest warning class for prescription drugs.

What is somebody to do?

If you are in pain is the pain worth risking your life?

I can truly say that there is an all natural alternative that inhibits both COX-2 and 5-LOX with out side effects.  The three herbal ingredients that do this are curcumin, boswellia, and nattokinase, and it stops the cause of pain fast.

You have probably heard of curcumin. Unfortunately, not all curcumin is the same, researchers found that up to 12 grams of curcumin was needed daily in order to maintain therapeutic blood levels to show a benefit.  This led researchers to isolate a curcuminoid complex that had a higher absorption rate, combined with essential oil of turmeric effectively made curcumin 10 times more absorb able and greater blood retention time at lower levels compared to standard 95% curcumin extracts.  Because it is absorbed so well, this blend is extremely effective in reducing pain and inflammation at lower doses.  This blend not only blocked COX-2 but does it in a safe way with out any significant side effects.  Remember, it isn’t just what you take – it is what you ABSORB that counts.

Boswellia is the second ingredient needed to reduce inflammation, but as like curcumin, not all boswellia is the same. It is a safe and effective herb that reduces inflammation pain by inhibiting 5-LOX enzyme.  5-LOX is another enzyme that sustains prostaglandins that cause inflammation. When looking for boswellia, look for a standardized form high in AKBA and low in B-boswellic acid.  B-boswellic acid interferes with the beneficial activity and should be avoided.

Nattokinase is the third ingredient which helps carry the other two herbs through the blood stream so they can get to where they are needed most.  Nattokinase also reduces circulating fibrinogen, a compound that causes stiff muscles and over time when present in elevated amounts, can damage muscle and joint tissue.

If you deal with chronic pain, you don’t need to be taking OTC pain relievers or prescription drugs with side effects. Consider natural ingredients that have no side effects.  These three ingredients are clinically proven to reduce pain and inflammation when taken together to:

  • Stop pain fast
  • Shorten your recovery time
  • Help you stay active
  • Inhibit COX-2 and 5-LOX
  • Fight inflammation throughout the body
  • Provide Safe, proven, effective relief
