The 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan resulted in one of the biggest nuclear disasters in history- the meltdown of three nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant. The company that operated the plant before the tsunami struck is still trying to figure out a way to contain and clean the mess. The biggest issue is that radiation levels are so high, there is no way for anyone to get close and assess the damage. Robots have been sent to get a closer view and they are dying before they can get close enough as well. This makes the process of investigating the extent of the damage increasingly unlikely right now. Read on for more details.
