How Healthy Living Helps Prevent Injuries

October 22, 2015 By Corey B

A recent post on the Mayo Clinic’s website highlights one of the less discussed, but still hugely important reasons why you should work out regularly and maintain a healthy diet; being physically fit reduces your susceptibility to injury. When you have greater dexterity and sharper reflexes, you can better avoid having accidents that will leave you physically debilitated. And by maintaining a diet rich in lean protein like fish and immune system optimizing vegetables like kale and cauliflower, you can cut down on the time it takes you to recover from an injury.

The Mayo Clinic post explains how physical fitness is essential to the longevity and success of a professional footballer’s career, but its lessons can be applied to people from all walks of life. If you work in a high stress physically demanding field like law enforcement, eating right and exercising regularly will help you manage your stress levels and improve your body’s endurance. If you work in customer service, working out will help you relieve the stress you build up dealing with sometimes irate customers and eating right will give you enough energy so that you can remain alert and dynamic on the sales floor. Regardless of what industry you work in, being fit will help you be more successful.
