Are carbs killing you? Global study finds death rates higher among carb eaters; scientists say we should be eating more fats

January 3, 2018 By Darrell Miller

Recent research shows that a high carb diet may lead to higher rates of death in the world. People that had higher carb diets over balanced were 28 percent more likely to die. This was correlated with low incomes. People with lower incomes were more likely to substitute protein with carbs due to cost and the satiating ability of carbs to make you feel full. Their nutrition was being met but due to their lack of variety, they are putting themselves at risk for long term health problems.

Key Takeaways:

  • People with high carb diets have a 28 percent increased risk of death to those with a balanced diet
  • There is also a link between income and a high carb diets buying cheaper foods over proteins
  • The high carb diets, fill you, but aren’t as healthy, as proteins, vegetables and fruits.
