Defeating Mental Tiredness

October 1, 2015 By Corey B

Are you coming home from work too tired to do just about anything? You may be grappling with the case of mental tiredness, the psychological fatigue that sets in when you don’t take time to manage your stress levels. While stress is an inevitable part of life, allowing yourself to become mentally tired can have significant consequences on your mental and physical health. For one thing, if you find yourself watching TV and playing video games all the time, you run the risk of developing a sedentary lifestyle that can lead to serious disorders like type-2 diabetes, obesity and depression. However, by taking a few simple self-care measures, you can protect your mind and body from the debilitating effects of stress.

One easy way to combat mental tiredness is to keep yourself hydrated. The next time you take a lunch break, grab a bottle of water from the vending machine instead of a sugary soda. On that same note, maintaining a healthy diet is essential to preventing mental tiredness. Instead of indulging in a greasy fast food lunch, eat a balanced meal that contains plentiful helpings of lean protein and vitamin and mineral packed vegetables. You might also consider taking a nutritional supplement to ensure that you don’t become deficient in hugely important nutrients like vitamin D and Omega-3 fatty acid.
