Does the food you eat on a regular basis have an impact on your thinking abilities throughout the day?
Well, let’s ask it a different way: Do you ever get that lethargic feeling soon after lunch, and by mid-afternoon you find yourself reaching for a coffee…a coffee you know will end up keeping you awake throughout the night?
Foods can do that. Our bodies take time and energy to break them down, and the more dense and filled with simple sugars they are, the more it will cause our body insulin to spike and then crash later in the day.
It’s that crash that causes you to reach for that coffee. So what can you do? Well, for one thing, you may want to think about eliminating certain food groups from your eating calendar. Such foods that are starchy and full of simple sugars, or simple carbs. These foods are your typical pastas…by typical we mean your white pastas.
In addition, you can eliminate white breads and sugary snacks.
Try to replace all of these with a more complex variant, like whole wheat bread and pasta as well as whole fruits for your snack choices.
Such decisions will help keep your insulin from spiking and save your head from that afternoon fog.
