It has long been known that the proper amount of sleep is integral to a properly functioning body. A recent study from the University of Wisconsin Madison has a new theory on how sleep affects our bodies. They found that the synapses in our brains shrinks by about 20% when we get the right amount of sleep, which allows our brains to “renormalize.” If our brains are not allowed to renormalize, it puts a lot of stress on the brain and makes it harder to concentrate. A normal sleep pattern is a great way to reduce stress.
