Why You Should up Your Vitamin Intake during the Winter

December 2, 2015 By Corey B

As wintertime draws closer it’s important to adjust your vitamin to perfect intake to protect yourself against illness and vitamin deficiency. While lower temperatures play no direct role in the spread of influenza and rhinovirus infections, the fact that people tend to spend more time indoors when it’s cold out does. As such, it’s a good idea to increase your vitamin C intake to give your immune system a bit of a boost. Additionally, as winter days are both shorter and cloudier than other times of the year, your body will not absorb the same amount of vitamin E is suffused with during the summer and spring.

This post outlines five different reasons you should stock up on during the winter and the different effects they have on your body. For example, since vitamin E has moisturizing properties, you may find in the winter that your skin is noticeably drier and flakier than it is in other parts of the year. It’s also worth noting if you don’t have enough vitamin B6 in your system in the winter; your lips will become dry and cracked. Follow the link below to find out what other essential vitamins and minerals you should make sure you’re getting enough of during the coldest part of the year.
