In recent study done by the University of California Los Angeles, walnuts have the capability to cut the risk of Type 2 diabetes in half. All of the 3,400 people, that participated, had their daily intakes recorded and looked at. Participants ranged from ages 18 to 85 and were asked about health issues and noted if they were diabetic and if medications were prescribed. Studies showed that the people who consumed more walnuts had a lower occurrence of Type 2 diabetes. Walnuts also are very high in Vitamin E and contain melatonin.
