Are you borderline diabetic?

March 16, 2017 By Darrell Miller

This was a great article about pre diabities which occurs when a person has high blood sugar levels but they are not the diabeties range. If your blood sugar reading is between 6.9 and 11.0 then you have pre diabities. While you may not be at increased risk for disease at the moment pre diabities can become actual diabities. So it is important to make lifestyle changes now to avoid becoming diabetic. These changes inculde quit smoking and lose weight if it is too high.

Key Takeaways:

  • People with prediabetes have higher glucose levels but no symptoms. A blood test is needed to detect the disease.
  • Catching and treating prediabetes decreases the chance of developing diabetes.
  • At risk patients should be tested every three years for prediabetes.

“In a prediabetic person, that reading is between 6.1 and 6.9 mmol/l, and in a person with diabetes, it is 6.9 mmol/l or higher.”
