The Mayo Clinic defines asthma as a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and produce extra mucus. Asthma can make breathing difficult, trigger wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. With the number of Americans that suffer from asthma becoming higher and higher scientist are conducting research to find if Omega-3 fatty acids can aid in the symptoms of asthma instead of using steroids, whether in pill form or in the form of an inhaler. One study conducted by Richard P. Phipps, PhD., concluded that Omega-3 fatty acids did help reduce the symptoms of mild asthma, but less effective in patients with a more severe case.
