Although the Internet has had a largely positive effect on modern life, it’s important to keep in mind the drawbacks that come with its ubiquity. For one thing, many of us now spend a large part of our day staring at a glowing screen of some kind. Whether it’s the morning TV show we wake up with, the computer monitors we peer into as we work, the smart phone enabled social media feeds we monitor throughout the day or the laptops we crack open when we want to unwind, we all spend a lot more time staring at screens then we use to. And as we do all that staring at illuminated displays, we strain our eyes like never before.
That’s why it’s important to do everything you can to keep your eyes healthy. One way to do that is to take a break from all the screens every once in a while. Another way is to stick to a diet that promotes good eye health. Make sure that you are regularly consuming some vitamin C, as it plays an important role in protecting your retinas. Make sure you’re getting a decent amount of vitamin E, as its healing properties help ward off macular degeneration. And don’t skimp on vitamin A, which helps keep your vision strong, even in the dark.
