Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain condition that occurs when amyloid plaques form in the human brain. Recent research has shown that THC, a compound in marijuana, can block the enzyme that firms these plaques. THC has also been shown to show positive results when used to treat several other debilitating conditions including symptoms of HIV and PTSD. Since there is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, the findings are promising and can lead to more research.
