Protein intake promotes weight loss and can prevent obesity related type 2 diabetes. New studies have studied the link between protein and diabetes but some proteins, especially from red meats, come with other risks. Recent studies have shown that diets high in plant protein are more effective in weight loss and prevention of diabetes. These studies are promising but require further studies with a larger and more diverse population to reach a conclusion as the mechanism that plant proteins enact on diabetes prevention is yet unknown.
