Sunflowers are far more than ornamental plants – they’re also valuable for prepping

March 1, 2019 By Darrell Miller

Did you know that sunflowers are more than just ornamental; you can use them for a variety of things. The pretty flowers can be used to make cooking oil which is better for your health than corn oil. In fact, the only ingredients that you need is sunflower and water. Because sunflowers contain the vitamin A, vitamin B, protein, and selenium, they are great for use as an herbal remedy. In fact, every part of the sunflower contains something beneficial.

Key Takeaways:

  • As ornamental plants, sunflowers are bright and cheery, so they make a home come alive. But sunflowers are also useful for prepping.
  • Sunflower seeds can be used to make oil which is good for the health. It is also better than corn oil.
  • The basic ingredients for sunflower oil are black head sunflower seeds (it is two times better than regular sunflower seeds), oil press, oven and strainer.

“When SHTF, sunflowers are a renewable source of materials that can be used as food and different herbal cures.”
