As you grow older, do you have a hard time remembering people, places and things? This is sometimes called the declarative memory. As we age there are certain vegetables that can help improve those brain functions. According to Elizabeth Johnson, a scientist at the antioxidants laboratory at Tufts University, one such vegetable Kale. The brain boosting property of Kale is due to a plant pigment Lutein. A study found that this provides a neuro barrier that can stimulate brain functions such as language and memory which can sometimes be affected as we age. Other vegetables rich in Lutein are broccoli, spinach and collards.
