Vitamin E found to have bone health benefits: Research finds it improves bone density in postmenopausal women

February 13, 2018 By Darrell Miller

Vitamin E has been found to have healthy bone density benefits states the article. Researchers are now beginning to look at its effects on postmenopausal women. A group of scientist at Texan Tech University carried out a study to look at the effects of vitamin E on bone density in post menopausal women. A study of 89 postmenopausal women showed that the use of tocotrienol for 12 whole weeks lowered bone resorption and increased bone turnover rate through suppression of bone remodeling regulators.

Key Takeaways:

  • Vitamin E seems to have its own bone health benefits for patients. Researchers are working to understand the advantages of the vitamin.
  • The study evaluated the effects of the vitamin with several women. These women were divided in to three groups for the research.
  • Bone density in postmenopausal women is a common concern for doctors. They want to evaluate Vitamin E and then assign it for patients.

“In the study, 89 postmenopausal women with osteopenia, a condition wherein bone mineral density is lower than normal, took part and were randomly divided into three groups.”
