A group of scientists have published their findings in Nature Communications regarding protein MKK6, which can be targeted to prevent and treat obesity. It prevents the conversion of calorie storing white fat into lipid burin in brown fat. Studies in mice that have low levels of this protein have shown them to be leaner. Obese mice who had the protein removed lost weight after. This study can promote further research and possible future treatments for obesity.
