It’s common knowledge that a deficiency of iron can cause you to feel physically diminished, drained of energy and unusually irritable. And while a lack of iron is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world, fatigue can also be caused by a deficiency in certain vitamins. For example, a lack of vitamin B9 and B12 can also present itself with symptoms like fatigue. Over a long enough timeline, a deficiency in B vitamins can led to serious medical problems, like anemia. Since vitamin and mineral deficiencies can have such deleterious health effects, it’s imperative that you do everything you can to make sure you’re getting all the nutrients you need.

One way of ensure that you don’t imperil your health with vitamin deficiency is to be weary of crash diets that curtail your intake of carbohydrates. While the excess consumption foods heavy refined grains can be extremely problematic, going on a diet that eschews all carb consumption can also lead to the development of health problems. That’s why you should talk to your doctor before starting a new diet; they’ll be able to tell you if need take vitamin supplements to address any nutrient deficiencies in your dietary intake.
