Can Malnutrition Cause Chronic Disease

Malnutrition is a condition that comes from the diet. You face this condition when you do not get enough nutrients from your diet or if you get more than required amounts. Malnutrition can cause health problems and chronic disease. Any kind of nutrient shortage can result in malnutrition that might be protein, vitamins, calories carbohydrates, and minerals. Now people all over the world have malnutrition problems. Their diets are either giving them more nutrients or less than the requirements. This problem is more prominent in underdeveloped countries or even in the developed world where people usually ignore the nutrient facts. Malnutrition can lead to many severe and chronic diseases.

If you have malnutrition, you might experience diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, cancer, and other health complications. Both over and under nutrition is a matter of great concern for many people of this developed world. Diet and nutrition are the most important factors to maintaining a healthy and happy life. If your food does not offer you the required amount of the nutrition then obviously, he will feel exhausted, tired, and less energetic. More importantly, if it continues for a long time, it will lead to the chronic disease.

 

Malnutrition and Chronic Disease

Malnutrition is not a preferable health condition. It can cause life-threatening diseases. Malnutrition can cause the following diseases.

  • Liver diseases
  • Obesity or weight gain
  • Iron deficiency and anemia
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • Macular degeneration
  • Metabolic diseases
  • Chronic weakness
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Menstrual cramps
  • Diabetes

You can have all the above diseases as a result of nutrition deficiency or more nutrition. But you can control these diseases with the right choice of diet and lifestyle. Malnutrition cannot cause chronic diseases within a month or so. It will take time. Hence, it is important to understand the symptoms and to take care of it before it becomes more complicated.
