The rising number of antibiotic prescriptions has strengthened some strains of bacteria. 12 strains in particular account for 700,000 deaths every year, mainly as a result of the antibiotics having no effect on the bacteria. This number could rise into the millions by 2050. This would mean that the deaths as a result of antibiotic resistance would be comparable to those from cancer and diabetes combined. The three strains of most concern are Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacteriacea. Improving your diet and level of fitness are both ways you can prevent infection, and thus the spread of these diseases.
