The United States government spend quite a fortune on health care. For instance, in the year 2015, the government spent about $980 billion on health care. Health care costs are escalating due to increased health problems like cancer, hypertension, and diabetes. Obesity-related illness accounts for 21% of the total medical costs per year in the United States. The government spends about 14 billion on childhood obesity complications. Obesity is linked to heart conditions, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers.
Obama’s health care regulations attempted to reduce health costs by encouraging health care providers to keep patients healthy and reduce Medicare payments. The US government needs to cut down health care costs by encouraging Americans to eat a healthy diet and take supplements.

It’s important if the US government focused on educating the citizens about the ideal amount of calories they should consume. That way, the government will minimize use of costly prescription drugs. Besides, accumulation of too much prescription drugs in the bloodstream can be toxic and result in adverse effects within the body.
Calcium and Vitamin D supplements support the development of healthy bones and reduce bone fractures after an accident. Folic acid supplements reduce the risks associated with birth defects in pregnant women. Vitamin A supplements support bone growth and vision health. Vitamin E restores the body DNA and strengthen the immune system. Encouraging citizens to take lots of Omega-3 fatty acids and fish oils can help to reduce costs involved in treating heart diseases. It’s evident that the US government spend a lot of mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorders, and trauma.
