Stress Is Too Serious a Health Problem to Ignore

If you want to stay healthy, you need to take steps to ensure that both your body and minor in optimal condition. One of the most important aspects of mind and body maintenance is ensuring that your stress level is under control. Its long been established that being under stress for an extended period of time can raise your blood pressure, which can have a negative effect on your health in many ways including increasing your risk factor for developing heart disease. It can also make you more susceptible to contracting mental disorders such as major depression or anxiety. Additionally, a new study has found that being seriously stressed out can cause you to experience a psychogenic fever, a major spike in your body temperature that is psychological in nature.

Given that stress can be so damaging to your health, it’s important to eat well and exercise regularly. Consuming foods that are packed with saturated fats and refined sugars will cause your blood sugar levels to fluctuate, which has the effect of increasing the amount of stress your body is under. On the other hand, maintaining a diet rich in stress fighting foods such as vitamin B12 rich asparagus and vitamin C heavy blueberries will have you feeling calm and in control. And exercising on a daily basis will make sure your body is getting regular infusions of endorphins, a chemical that allows your system to process stress efficiently.
