Muscles need a recovery time after working out. Protein is one of the best things to eat after a workout. Beets have been proven to speed up the recovery time for muscles as well. Beets contain nitrates which also has anti-inflammatory properties. Beets and beetroot juice also reduce high blood pressure. If beets are not appealing then anything with a blue, purple or red color is full of antioxidants and is beneficial to heal muscles after working out.
