The Dark Act, is a bill that will allow food manufactures to hide the fact that the foods they manufacture have GMO ingredients.
GMO = Genetically Modified Organism
Companies like Monsanto, Syngenta, Dow Agrosciences, BASF, Bayer, and Pioneer (DuPont) have been researching ways to make the foods we eat resistant to insects. They do this by introducing genes into a plant that acts like a pesticide. The plant (corn, tomatoes, ect) becomes toxic to their natural insect predators.
These GMO foods pose a significant health risk. Genetically modified plants have proteins not indigenous to the original plant or animal which can cause new allergic reactions not yet known. If the insect cant eat it, what makes us able to?
